Remember, remember 11 September,
When terror rained down from the skies;
As flames licked the towers
And steel fell in showers —
As gravity silenced their cries.
Al Qaeda’s delight was Americans’ fright,
But soon these two states would reverse
When Bush climbed the rubble
To speak of our troubles
And promise bin Laden his hearse.
These many years have dampened our fears,
And so should our nation progress.
But never forget
That the threat endures yet,
As our honorable dead would confess.
Inspired by a traditional British rhyme. In Memoriam.
